a cascade of auburn hues
hidden greens the Sun touches
you are a welcome respite from the Summer heat
and a warm embrace outside the chill of Winter
how is it that you walk beside me?
the days seem shorter with you
the nights more in them
the landscape full of colours
dark wood and shelves of leaves
how are you season and a woman?
is this witchcraft, or just inspiration?
spices and a smile that leaves me bare
how I have strived to be just a man
and knowing you, I see more poetry
the whisper of the falling leaves
wrapped in the reaching branches of you
a Summer's day is nothing to this fall
you a walking Autumn
apotheosis in a handful of stanzas
I know joy, seeing the colours of you
